Dear colleagues,
2020 was a challenge for the global nuclear industry. In the complicated context of the pandemic, JSC TENEX maintained its reputation of a reliable supplier and a responsible partner having completely fulfilled its obligations to the customers. All key performance indicators set by ROSATOM were fulfilled. Prompt transfer to remote working format enabled us to ensure maximum safety for our personnel, optimise business processes and resolve a complicated set of commercial and logistical problems. JSC TENEX maintained its foothold as one of the world’s leading suppliers of uranium products: over 100 export supply operations worth a total of about USD 2 billion were effected during the year.
Prolongation of the Agreement Suspending the Antidumping Investigation on Uranium from the Russian Federation into the United States became a notable event for the entire nuclear industry. This important strategic arrangement established predictable rules in the US market, which will enable us to fulfil all existing contractual obligations and compete for receiving new long-term orders.
In developing our business, we follow the sustainable development logic. This means not only responsible management of economic, social and environmental impacts but also using recyclable materials in the economic cycle, ensuring CO2 neutrality and other modern solutions.
As part of the Balanced Nuclear Fuel Cycle concept, we continue promoting Russian products and services enabling efficient reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel on the world market and ensure sustainable management of the products of reprocessing.
The Division’s new businesses contribute to the development of green energy engineering, including the biofuel area. In 2020, we effected debut operations of a commercial supply of biofuel to Denmark and Italy. In the rare metals area, we focus on lithium, an irreplaceable natural resource for electric transport and energy storage systems. Last year, the Russian Government included our lithium-focused projects in the approved Roadmap for Development of High-Tech Area Technology of New Materials and Substances in Russia.Business development is driven by the expansion of the complex of logistical services. In particular, in 2020, the Division effected its first multi-modality transportation of enriched uranium from France to the Republic of Korea along a transit corridor through Russian territory.
It is my belief that the experience of meaningful cooperation with partners and other stakeholders accumulated in the challenging year of 2020 will continue to help us reach our most ambitious goals in the future.
